Everything the State says is a lie, and everything it has it has stolen.
– Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None (c. 1891)
Here’s a lesson on the attention span of the civic mind.
An op-ed on the pages of The New York Times announcing an in-progress administrative coup has basically been memory-holed.
Well, “Anonymous” is the Deep State. And the Deep State now has a Supreme Court seat to “steal back.”
It’s all the kind of bald-faced tampering our putative Russian meddlers could only drool about.
Here’s another civics lesson: In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve.
And America knowingly elected – for better and/or for worse – the Great Disruptor.
He’s unstable and impetuous. He’s bombastic and megalomaniacal. He talks a lot of trash, and he doesn’t know much.
That’s what endless primary debates and presidential campaign oratory proved beyond a shadow of doubt.
And, well, here we are…
Nevertheless, to insure the voters don’t get what they voted for, a cabal of GOP Swamp Creatures inside the administration is sabotaging 45 at every turn.
That’s to say nothing of loyalists to 44 and their “rearguard” maneuvering.
Here’s one more lesson: Deep State civics makes self-serving treachery heroic.
It celebrates handmaids attempting to nullify the 2016 election and all its consequences.
In this game, Brett Kavanaugh is a pawn. And so is Christine Blasey Ford.
There is no real mystery about “Anonymous.” Sure, that op-ed may have come from a single keyboard. But it reflects the GOP’s Inside-the-Beltway mind.
This establishment gives lip service to free markets and low taxes. But it really cares about one thing.
And that’s ruling the world from self-perpetuating sinecures in Imperial Washington.
“Lodestars” of honor in this context earn it by stalking the planet in search of nations to surveil, bomb, invade, occupy, and destroy whenever they fail to toe empire’s writ.
At home, they bail out Wall Street banks and aid and abet the Welfare State’s expansion.
A $2 trillion, deficit-financed tax cut in the 10th year of an aging recovery is “conservative.” A $100 billion expansion of the Pentagon budget is “defensive.”
Actually, what it adds up to is a monumental Fiscal Debauch.
That means growing national economic and social turmoil. And that means insecurity as far as the eye can see.
Now, here’s the final lesson for today.
If the invisible hand of historical fate infused any purpose in the election of the Great Disruptor, it was to destroy once and for all the Warfare State-Welfare State double-fisted hold on the country.
But the GOP establishment has abandoned its principles of sound money, free markets, fiscal rectitude, small government, and non-intervention. It’s totally down with Leviathan on the Potomac.
The Great Disruptor threatens the Deep State to the quick. And, as we’re witnessing, the Deep State is responding in kind.
So, at this point, it doesn’t matter whether the Donald survives until January 2021. The die is cast; we’re already in the middle of a coup, for crying out loud.
